3 Armed Men Break Into Home And Attempt To Rape Girl, Grandpa Makes Them Suffer
A grandfather proved to be more than some burglars could handle in 2014 when they broke into his house and threatened to rape his 19-year-old granddaughter. Kenneth Byrd, 67, and his wife were at home at 10 pm when they heard someone knock on the front door. The man standing outside the Lumberton, North Carolina home told Byrd that they had had some care trouble and was asking for some water.
Then two men appeared behind him – they were wearing black clothes, gloves, and ski masks. The trio of burglars pushed Byrd aside and entered the house.
They demanded money and took the elderly couple to the back of the home where they had their safe and told them to open it.
Byrd knew he couldn’t just stand by and let this happen – especially when he learned that the men planned to rape his teenage granddaughter.
Inside his safe, Byrd had a gun, when he opened the safe, he used the gun to shoot all three men. One of the men managed to shoot Byrd several times in return. The injured burglars fled in Byrd’s car, a Cadillac.
Two of the men were identified as Jamar Hawkins and Brandon Carver Stephens when they showed up at a local hospital to be treated for their wounds. The third man, Jamie Lee Faison, 20 years old, was found dead in the car.
Byrd was airlifted to a local hospital and was reported to be in critical condition. He is being hailed as a hero and rightfully so.
